mt. ida mews care facility (phase 2)

continuity of care with cultural sensitivity

expanding complex care facility

The Mount Ida Mews Care facility provides 132 long term care units for people with complex care needs in the community in Salmon Arm.

The facility provides 24-hour on-site care staff for people with mild to advanced stages of dementia and other cognitive impairment, and care for physically frail seniors.

All units and common spaces are fully accessible. The building is divided up into ‘neighbourhoods’ with each neighbourhood having its own nursing station with medication room that provides daily assistance and medication management.

The neighbourhoods also include an activity room, lounge, and dining hall. A sensory room and quiet room are also included to further serve the residents.

To ensure cultural safety, the local indigenous community was engaged and consulted during the process.
