Who We Are

Station One Architects is a multidisciplinary practice that offers a diverse range of services in the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and interior design. Our 3 major focus sectors are complex institutional facilities, affordable & care housing facilities, & market mixed-use developments. Station One has two offices: an office in downtown Chilliwack and a recently acquired branch in Abbotsford. This strategic location of our offices allows our firm to respond immediately to the needs of our clients in the Fraser Valley specifically but also in geographical areas further afield.
Station One is a partnership that was established in 1992 by three principal architects: Philip Craven, Ryan Huston, and Robert Powers. Alvin Bartel joined the practice in 2004, and Justin Dyck in 2016. The founding partners have since retired from partnership but remain involved in the company’s operations. Each principal has brought a unique approach to the practice through a wide spectrum of experience gained in previous professional affiliations.
Every project involves both a principal architect and a project manager. The principal architect provides the overall project direction and quality control throughout and is supported by the project manager who provides consistent management and detailed architectural services from preliminary planning to completion. This approach ensures that the client maintains access to the design professionals and that a high level of consistency of thought and design decisions are maintained as the project develops.
Our practice is unique in that it offers architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design services, ensuring all design aspects of the project are consistent and well-coordinated under one roof. At any stage of design, our clients quickly see the building visualized with all design components in place. These in-house services greatly benefit both interior planning aspects, as well as site design on the project.

We have found them to be innovative, up to date, economical both in building and finished product and the finished design has well served our needs. We think the projects we have done to date and those we are working on were quite brilliant in concept. We have been very happy with both the timely and cooperative manner these have been done. We would be delighted in highly recommending them for any architectural needs.
