a dual-purpose building repurposing a piece of city history
mixed-use project in the heart of historic downtown chilliwack
With support from BC Housing, this mixed-use project in the centre of downtown Chilliwack will add another element to the revitalization in the area. The first floor and half of the second floor will have the offices, classroom and other services spaces for Chilliwack Community Services, with potentially some commercial retail space. The remaining half of the second floor, plus floors 3-6 will house subsidized multi-family residential apartment units, with financial support from BC Housing. A significant design element is the Paramount sign, which is a nod to the original historic Paramount theatre that used to be located on this property before its demolition in 2013.
repurposing a piece of city history
This project in Historic Downtown Chilliwack is named after and uses the iconic sign from the Paramount Theatre, demolished in 2013. Reflecting the history of the downtown core, the inspiring retro-stylized vision for the revitalization project will add a key element back into the community. The complex will be the new home to Chilliwack Community Services along with 4 floors of affordable housing for seniors. SOA is proud to help shape the new face of Downtown Chilliwack.
