white rock memorial park & pier washroom

providing multi-use community spaces at a popular beach

major infrastructure upgrades to accommodate outdoor events

After many years of use the state of the washrooms at the Pier underwent a complete rebuild within the Memorial Park & Pier Washroom Upgrade project. Along with the washrooms being rebuilt, Memorial Park had major infrastructure upgrades that included a new Grand Staircase connecting the Pier to Marine Drive and the repurposing of a parking lot into a flex plaza that can accommodate events such as the Concert in the Park series. The flex plaza when not being used for scheduled events is open to the public and features a toddler splash park. Rising up from the plaza, is a series of concrete seat walls in an amphitheater setting, providing a more formal seating arrangement, and is connected to a grassy mound for more informal seating. Outdoor showers have been provided outside the washroom for beach goers who wish to rinse off from a day at the beach. Topping off the improvements is a roof top patio on the washroom building that has been designed for unobstructed views of Semiahmoo Bay. Additional work includes providing the pier with updated servicing and safety improvements to the BNSF rail crossing at this location.
