a response to the needs of tzeachten first nation
Tzeachten Affordable Housing has been designed to meet the needs of Tzeachten band members and kindle a sense of community at a residential level. Through extensive engagement with Tzeachten First Nation representatives and band members this project is fine tuned to respond to the needs of the community and provide a successful on reserve development.
Anchored by a community gathering structure at the center of the property, the residential apartments and row housing are all orientated and contributing to the importance of a community center. This gathering building also relates to the surrounding environmentally protected zone and opens to an open greenscape. Tzeachten First Nation has many young families which is represented at the majority of the units provided. There are also two ground level Elder suites interwoven amongst units. This project is further supported by adjacent Tzeachten services such as a new Long House, band offices, community gardens, and sports fields.
