école élementaire james whiteside elementary seismic upgrade

regenerating a 1950s school

creating a safe and accessible learning environment

The 400-student École Élementaire James Whiteside Elementary School first opened its doors in 1955. In 2021, the government approved funding for a seismic upgrade to the building, making it much safer for the school community in the event of an earthquake.

Station One Architects was hired to complete extensive renovations to the school building, including a seismic upgrade of existing features, a partial roof replacement, a new entrance foyer and structure, exterior building improvements, upgrades to interior finishes and new gender neutral and accessible washrooms.
