YOUR OPPORTUNITY
Junior Designers at SOA are creative professionals gaining hands-on experience on the path to become licensed architects, contributing to real projects while developing technical, design, and project coordination skills. Students work closely with our architects, designers, and technicians to support a variety of projects in the areas of educational, institutional and multi-family design, from conceptual development to construction documentation.
This is a full-time, in-person, paid position with mentorship opportunities, exposure to the architectural practice, and the ability to work on meaningful projects that shape the built environment. Ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented, and design-driven individual looking to bridge their academic studies with professional practice. 8, 12 or 18 month work term opportunities available.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Assist in the design and development of architectural projects, including schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
- Produce and refine architectural drawings and 3D models using Revit and Adobe Suite. Conduct research on building materials, codes, and sustainable design practices. Collaborate with project teams, consultants and clients for design meetings and presentations.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Participate in site visits and construction administration tasks, including documenting site conditions and reviewing progress.
- Contribute to firm-wide design discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Assist in other technical, administrative and general duties as required.
- Participate in relevant continuing education opportunities, team culture and events. Model SOA core values to our team, clients and the public.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Currently enrolled in, or completed, a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) or equivalent, with plans to pursue a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.).
- Proficiency in Revit, MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Knowledge of BC building code, zoning bylaws, and architectural standards.
- Excellent English written, verbal and visual communication skills.

SOA SALARY RANGE: $24 – 28 / hour
