central community park

redeveloping an existing park in the downtown core

extensive partnership with multiple groups to create a new community gathering space

Station One was commissioned to transform an existing downtown park into a multi purpose community oriented urban park and provide a public washroom facility. This project incorporated many partners including local city officials, School District No. 33, Business Improvement Association, Rotary Club and RCMP.

With an expectation to set a positive tone for future redevelopment in the downtown core, the project satisfied a long-term need in the Mayor’s Task Force of creating open green space in the downtown core. An interactive spray park in the centre maze provides another layer of relief for inner-city families. With regular summer gatherings of 300-400 people enjoying live musicians, it serves as a revolutionized point of gathering to draw the community together.
